Carly Sable will study dietary patterns of "super seniors"

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

The Centre is pleased to welcome Carly Sable, a 2017 Faculty of Medicine Summer Studentship Research Program award winner.

Over the next eight weeks under the supervision of Dr. Rachel Murphy, Carly will help examine the dietary patterns of “super seniors”—those seniors who are aged 85+ years and free of age-related diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s.

Carly recently completed the coursework for her Bachelor of Science in Food, Nutrition, and Health, with a major in dietetics, and will begin her dietetics internship with Vancouver Island Health Authority in September 2017. Her Faculty of Medicine Summer Studentship is supported by the Florence & George Heighway Endowment Fund and the Douglas Hodge Gilmore Estate.
