UBC SPPH MSc student Ace Chan has won a scholarship from the LOUD Foundation.

The LOUD Foundation invests in future leaders of the Canadian LGBTQ community.

Ace’s research focuses on cancer prevention in the LGBTQI2S community. They recently won the top prize at the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health Design Jam, which took place in Vancouver on February 23-24, 2018 for an initiative to improve HPV vaccine uptake in men who have sex with men (MSM). This builds on the work of their master’s thesis, which focuses on the barriers associated with screening for cervical cancer (caused by HPV) in the LGBTQI2S population.

The scholarship will be presented at the Awards Gala on May 10, 2018.
